Linda Kae Albrecht, 63, died Aug. 1, 2004, at her home in Greenbank, surrounded by her family. She was born in Decatur, Ill., June 29, 1941, to Carl F. and Mary Ella (Johnson) Gaddis.
Linda was raised in Decatur and then moved with her family to St. Louis, Mo., where she graduated from Jennings High School. Following graduation, she attended Bradley University in Peoria, Ill., where she met Thomas C. Albrecht, an upperclassman. They fell in love and April 15, 1962, Tom and Linda were married in Peoria.
Tom’s work took them to the Seattle area in December of 1966 and they settled in Bellevue and then on to Redmond. In 1968, the Albrechts purchased a small cabin in Greenbank. Eight years ago, they left Redmond and made Greenbank their permanent home. The cabin is long gone and replaced by the Albrechts retirement home.
Linda developed a love of art while in school and pursued that hobby through much of her life. She enjoyed watercolors and would paint when the opportunity arose and enjoyed time in her art studio at home. She would, on occasion, sell pieces of her work. Linda was an active member of the Greenbank Artists. She entered a watercolor piece in the Ebey Landing National Historical Reserve poster contest, for which she was awarded first place. Linda also enjoyed gardening and time spent visiting Kona, Hawaii.
Linda Albrecht is survived by her husband Tom at the family home, Greenbank; by two children, Andrew Albrecht and wife Tereisa of Puyallup and Christine E. Albrecht of Snoqualmie, and two grandchildren, Ariel and Logan Albrecht of Puyallup.
Cremation was held with private family memorial services and inurnment to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Greenbank Farm. Arrangements are under the direction of Burley Funeral Chapel, Oak Harbor, Washington.
