Blaine scored in every inning en route to a 12-2 win in five innings over the Coupeville High School baseball team Monday, April 11, at the Pipeline Fields.

While the Borderites’ offense was humming right along, the Wolves managed to produce only one base runner until the fourth inning when they tallied both runs.

Blaine (7-5), which rapped 12 hits and received help from five Coupeville errors, scored twice in the first inning and added five in the second to take control.

It added another pair in the third, a single run in the fourth, and ended the game with two runs in the fifth, putting the 10-run mercy rule into effect.

“Rough game for us,” Coupeville coach Marc Aparicio said. “We just didn’t bring our game.”

The highlights were few, he added: “Clay (Reilly) had a great day in the outfield and Kory (Score) hit well and helped score one of our only two runs.”

The Wolves played without three starters, who were out because of illness or injury, according to Aparicio.

Coupeville (1-0, 4-7) now plays three consecutive conference games, staring at Chimacum (0-1, 2-5) at 4:15 p.m. Thursday, April 14.
