Jim Ball, 77, passed away at his home in Coupeville on Nov. 29, 2010. Jim was born in Boulder, Colo. He spent most of his life in the Puget Sound region, living for many years in Port Townsend.

Jim was a well known regional artist, represented by galleries in Washington and Oregon. His large abstract paintings graced corporate offices and residences around the country. Wherever Jim resided, he created unique and artful homes and gardens.

Jim is survived by his wife of 33 years, Jan Hoy; his sons, Michael and Chris Ball; step-son Marshal Hoy; and two grandsons.

A Celebration of Jim’s Life and Art will be held Tuesday, Jan. 18, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Undertown Coffee Shop in Port Townsend.
