Myron Rost died at home surrounded by his loving family on April 13, 2007 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born June 23, 1938 in Minneapolis, Minn., to Andrew and Sarah Rost.

Myron was raised and schooled in Hill City, Minn. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1958 and after basic training was stationed at Corpus Christi, Texas where he met the love of his life, Sandra. They were married in November 1962 and then moved to Oak Harbor in December of that year.

Myron spent 20 years in the Navy, retiring in 1978 as a chief petty officer. When he retired he went to work for NASA as a quality assurance specialist in Houston. In 1979 he landed a position at Boeing’s Everett plant where he became an inspector on the Boeing 747. When he retired from Boeing in 2000, he and Sandra planned to spend time camping, fishing and relaxing, however Sandra’s death in February 2005 brought their retirement together to an all too early end.

As an expert wood worker, Myron enjoyed making many things out of both common and exotic woods. He made everything from simple plaques to coffee tables and more. His work can be found all over town. Friends and family alike have numerous pieces of Myron’s work to remember him by.

Myron is survived by his daughters Debbie Johnson of Kent, and Melissa Morris with husband Mark of Oak Harbor, sons Michael Rost with wife Jennifer of Mill Creek and Steven Rost with wife Christina of Virginia, as well as grandchildren David and Eric Rost. He also leaves siblings Carmen Murry and Margie O’Neal.

Visitation for Myron will be held at Burley Funeral Chapel on Thursday, April 19, from noon to 3:30 p.m. followed by a celebration of his life at 4 p.m., also at Burley Funeral Chapel.
