Svea J. Stoddart, 100 years of age, passed away Jan. 14, 2010, at a private care facility in Oak Harbor. She was born in Skyelleftia, Sweden on Oct. 11, 1909 to Hjalmar C. and Jenny Lindquist Hedman. Svea came to the United States in 1910, settling with her family in Meadowlands, Minn.
Svea married her husband Wilbert on Nov. 23, 1935 in Los Angeles. She was devoted to her family and her church; a devout member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses Church for 65 years. She attended the Oak Harbor Kingdom Hall.
Svea is survived by her daughter Karen Bunnell with husband Ben of Oak Harbor, daughter-in-law Pauline Crane of Yucaipe, Calif., grandchildren Jennie Bunnell of Newcastle, Wash., Beth (Bunnell) Hunter of Oakton, Va., Tamara Bunnell of Seattle and Leslie Stolar of Huntington Beach, Calif. She also leaves two great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Svea was preceded in death by her husband Wilbert L. Stoddart and by her son Richard Stoddart.
A memorial will be held Saturday, Jan. 30, at the Jehovah’s Witnesses Kingdom Hall at 3 p.m. The hall is located at 301 NE Ronhaar St., Oak Harbor. Arrangements were entrusted to Burley Funeral Chapel of Oak Harbor.
