Charlotte Cecil

Charlotte Cecil died at Careage of Whidbey June 5, 2005. She was born Nov. 15, 1923 in Oak Harbor to Geert and Dora Riepma Zylstra.

Char grew up in Oak Harbor and attended the Oak Harbor Schools, graduating from Oak Harbor High School. In her early working years she was a clerk for the Oak Harbor Producers Cooperative and in later years helped to build and managed the Blue Fox Drive-in Theater with her husband Woodrow “Woody” Cecil. After retirement she enjoyed volunteering for the Oak Harbor Senior Center.

Char is survived by her husband of nearly 40 years, “Woody” at the family home in Oak Harbor, sisters Beth Fakkema of Oak Harbor and Anetta Vickers of Toutle, Wash. She also leaves three grandchildren: Todd, Anthony and Bree Ann Bowers.

Char was preceded in death by daughter Karen Bowers at 36 years of age in 1984 and her sister Dorothea Dyer in that same year.

Char’s hard work and sense of humor will be missed by family and friends. There are no services planned at this time. Arrangements were entrusted to Burley Funeral Chapel.
