Larry B. VanEvery

Larry B. “Lar” VanEvery, 44, died Oct. 15, 2003 at his home in Oak Harbor following a lengthy illness. He was born in Oak Harbor Sept. 16, 1959, to John H. and Dona M. (Storey) VanEvery. He attended Oak Harbor High School, graduating with the Class of 1977. Larry was a very active member of the Spots and Saddles 4-H Club.

Larry worked for Skippers Seafood Restaurant, first at the Oak Harbor store, then moved on to Mount Vernon and finally to the corporate offices in Bellevue. He was happy and cheerful, dependable, hard working and had a great sense of humor.

Larry enjoyed bicycling, logging 1,700 miles one summer. He enjoyed foosball competition. His latest interest was in racing high-speed, radio-controlled cars at indoor carpet racetracks and he had many trophies to prove his talent. He had also served as a tutor for a neighborhood home-schooled student.

Larry was also a very talented artist. He enjoyed creating metal sculptures, using copper and brass. Most of all he enjoyed his family and friends.

Larry is survived by his parents, John and Dona VanEvery of Oak Harbor, and by two brothers, one sister and their spouses: Donald and Leonette VanEvery of Sedro-Woolley; Thomas and Edna VanEvery and Robin and Thomas Foster, all of Oak Harbor. A very special and loving friend, Terrina Elliott of Oak Harbor, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, one great-niece and one great-nephew, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins also survive him.

Private family memorial services were held Oct. 18 at Burley Funeral Chapel, Oak Harbor, with Rev. Fred Renfroe officiating. Cremation was held with family inurnment following at Maple Leaf Cemetery.
