Douglas G. Morgan, 81, resident of Coupeville, died at Whidbey General Hospital on April 23, 2002.
Doug was born March 18, 1921, in Aberdane, London, to Evan and Frances (Malpas) Morgan. After graduation and attending Leicester Technical School and London University, he completed his apprenticeship as a radio engineer. He joined the Royal Air Force Intelligence for five years and then in 1952, he married the love of his life, Jean McHugh. In 1956, they migrated to Canada and owned an operated a radio and television repair store.
In 1962, Doug and his wife immigrated to California where he was employed at various engineering firms as a senior mechanical designer. They later moved to Anacortes and owned and operated another radio and television repair store. In 1993, Doug moved to Coupeville to enjoy his retirement.
Doug was an avid artist and had a knack for woodwork. He enjoyed playing pool, reading, watching movies, and boating. He took pride in being able to repair electronic items for friends and neighbors. Everyone knew his voice by his distinctive English accent.
He was a very devoted husband, uncle, and friend. His wife Jean preceded him in death on Nov.19, 1990. He leaves behind relatives in England and his dear friends in Coupeville and Oak Harbor.
An ocean side memorial will be held at a later date.
