Donna Marie Martinez, 65, died at Whidbey General Hospital on Jan. 31, 2009, following a five year battle with breast cancer. She was born Sept. 1, 1943 in Everett, to Marion and Dellora (Angus) Davis. She was raised in Lake Stevens.
For many years, Donna owned and operated a dry cleaning store in the Pinehurst area of Everett. She then went to work for Tyee Aircraft at Paine Field as a machinist for over 15 years. Donna moved to Oak Harbor four years ago to live with her brother and sister-in-law, Danny and Sharon Davis. She was a very unselfish person, accepting of everyone. She was a loving and caring mother and grandmother. She loved wildlife enjoyed camping.
Donna is survived three children, George and Lisa Martinez of Marysville, Tina Marie and Matt Brown of Everett, and Rosita and John Wears of Miles City, Mont.; three brothers and sisters, Danny and Sharon Davis of Oak Harbor, Johnny and Denna Davis of Springfield, Ore., and Pam Stricklin of Everett; her life-partner, Frank Martinez; grandchildren, Joshua, Jessica, Brandon, Brian, Melinda, Tyler, Zachary, Madina, Ashley, Stephanie, Kimberly, Melanie and Gabriel; great-grandchildren Emily, Tylor and Rya; two aunts, Inez Hagen of Ballard and Lilly Barr of Everett; one uncle, Sonny Sather of Everett; and numerous nieces and nephews. Her parents and two aunts, Myrtle Strom and Clara Peterson, preceded her in death.
Donna requested no formal funeral services be arranged. Cremation was held with private family inurnment to follow. Arrangements entrusted to Burley Funeral Chapel, Oak Harbor.
