Margaret M. “Peg” Hurt

Margaret M. “Peg” Hurt, 97, a former resident of Oak Harbor, died Oct. 15, 2003 at Panorama City in Lacey.

Peg was born Oct. 10, 1906, in Renton. She and her husband, Amos “Curly” Hurt moved to Oak Harbor in 1947 when they bought and operated Big Dipper Café and later Terrace Trailer Court. Peg was a sales clerk for Casual House and taught tole painting while here in Oak Harbor. Following their retirement they continued to live in Oak Harbor until 1985 then moved to Seattle. A year ago she moved to Lacey.

Her husband, Amos “Curly” and daughter, Jean Fullmer, preceded Peg in death. Survivors include, son, Robert Hurt of Olympia; daughter, Margaret Ann Goodfellow of North Carolina; numerous grandchildren.

Graveside service will be held Tuesday, Oct. 28 at noon in Maple Leaf Cemetery. Arrangements under direction of Burley Funeral Chapel.
