Monday, July 26, Cathleen Diane Latham went to dance with her Lord and Savior. Cathy’s love for life was apparent to everyone and even at times infectious. She always loved a good laugh and seemed to always try to get everyone to join in.
Born Oct. 15, 1951, to Ruth and Robert Hall, Cathy is survived by her father Robert Hall of Carlsbad, Calif.; sisters Jenny Higgs of Bothell, Terry Hall of Kaneohe, Hawaii; her children Christopher Latham of Bellingham, Corissa Latham of Oak Harbor; her grandchildren Caleb, Carter, and Catrina Latham all from Bellingham; and nephew Jason Henne of Bothell.
Cathy was born in San Luis Obispo, Calif. She spent much of her youth in Canal Fulton, Ohio, moving to Kailua, Hawaii, for high school. She married Charles Latham in 1973 and subsequently followed his Navy career to Japan. Christopher and Cori soon followed and the family moved to Whidbey Island in 1977. Cathy remained in the Oak Harbor area for the remainder of her life. During the first years in Oak Harbor Cathy worked in education, first at a preschool and later in a special education class at one of the elementary schools. In 1989 Cathy began working at Oak Harbor United Methodist Church. She worked for the church for 13 years, retiring in 2003.
Cathy’s faith was the center-point of her life, and directed many of her activities. She was very active with her church’s youth activities, as well as many of the adult educational opportunities. She was also very involved in raising money for the American Cancer Society.
