Douglas W.S. Oldham died May 26, 2002. He was 81. Mr. Oldham was born in Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England. He was raised partly in England and Canada.
At the onset of World War II he joined the Royal Engineer Regiment 1st Indian Airborne Division (paratroop Red Berets) and served in India and Burma. After the war he returned to Canada and joined the telephone company. Subsequently he emigrated to the United States and became a citizen in the 1970s. He moved to Whidbey Island in 1989. In keeping with his wishes no formal services will be held.
He is survived by his wife, Eileen, and his two sons, Duncan and Lachlan and his brother Peter. Remembrances may be made to the animal shelter, W.A.I.F., P.O. Box 1108, Coupeville, WA 98239. Arrangements under direction of Burley Funeral Chapel.
