Wilma Pearl Tull went to be with her Lord and Savior Aug. 21, 2011, at the age of 90. She was born in Newton, Kan., Nov. 30, 1920, to Warner and Pearl Kelso. Wilma was raised in the Newton area, graduating from Newton High School.

Following graduation, she began work at the local J.C. Penney store as a clerk. She soon found a young man working at the store as a window decorator and a romance began. Four months later, Wilma and Bob Tull were married on Sept. 19, 1937.

In 1943, Bob and Wilma moved with family members to Bend, Ore., where Bob had found a job as a sign painter. From Bend, they moved north to Redmond, Ore. The Tull family also began to grow with the addition of a daughter and then with four sons.

Bob and Wilma were both multi-talented and both began to expand their skills. Wilma began a photo finishing business in the basement of their home, which Bob had rebuilt for her. She eventually moved to a shop in the garage which Bob had remodeled, and finally to a business location downtown where she expanded into a portrait studio and a camera and photo finishing store.

Wilma, Bob, the Tull family, and Marlene (Zitek) Olson moved to Oak Harbor, and on Oct.12, 1957, opened Studio Tulle, first in the Professional Center on Midway, north of Whidbey Avenue and then down Midway to a building south of Oak Harbor Elementary. Wilma was the principal behind the business operation, which they owned until their retirement in 1978. Son Bob took over the business until his retirement in 1986.

Wilma was known throughout the Northwest for her work in photography and management of a photo studio. She was a 54-year member of the Oak Harbor Lutheran Church and was active on the church board, the Ruth Circle and was most proud of her participation in the Lay Renewal Team, visiting other churches and professing her faith. Wilma was a past president of the American Legion Auxiliary and the VFW Auxiliary of Redmond, Ore.

Wilma is survived by three children, Myrna Ellet Zitek and husband Douglas of Portland, Ore., Robert E. Tull, Jr. and wife Sibylle of Oak Harbor, and Clifford L. Tull of Oak Harbor; one brother, John Kelso and wife Sallie of Wichita, Kan.; 12 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Her husband, two sons Kenneth and Ronny Tull, her parents, one sister and three brothers all preceded her in death.

Wilma was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, a good disciplinarian, generous with her love and had a deep love of her Lord.

Memorial services for Wilma Tull will be held at the Oak Harbor Lutheran Church Sunday, Sept. 11, at 3 p.m. with Pastor Mark Stroud officiating. A reception will follow.
