Herbert A. Hemann, Jr.
Herbert A. Hemann, Jr., age 55, passed away in the early morning hours of Sunday, December 14, 2008 at his home in Renton.
Herb was born in Memphis, Tenn., and moved with his family to various states while growing up. Herb graduated from Oak Harbor High School, Oak Harbor, WA in 1973.
He honorably served his country in the U.S. Army from 1978 to 1982 as a paramedic. After returning from his duty station in Germany he settled in Oregon, later Colorado and then Washington state. He worked as a professional chef for several restaurants during his life. Herb was a wonderful chef and creator of foods. Herbert also enjoyed music, fishing, camping and golfing with family and friends.
Herb is preceded in death by his father, Commander Herbert A. Hemann, U.S. Navy (retired). He is survived by his mother, Mary Jo Hemann of Colorado Springs, Colo., his two children, Jason M. Hemann (Amber) of Vancouver, WA and Jennifer J. Smith (Adam) of Chambersburg, Pa., five sisters and a brother: Mary Beth Forst (Tom) and Susan K. Bann (Jim) of Monument, Colo., Lucy A. Shughart (Bob) of Colorado Springs, Deborah J. Brun of Newport, NC, Brenda J. Haggarty (Mike) of Redmond, WA, Michael J. Hemann (Tracy) of Colorado Springs, four grandchildren, Kennedy, Trent, Peyton and Xavier and 18 nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Colorado Springs on Dec. 29, 2008 at 10 a.m. followed by services at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Herb’s name to St. Joseph Catholic Church at 1830 South Corona, Colorado Springs, CO 80905.
