Charles Deward Lee, 73, of Oak Harbor, passed away at his home surrounded by loved ones on June 30, 2008. He was born Nov. 8, 1934 in Long Beach, Calif., to Norman and Ruth (Bostwick) Lee. In 1953 he joined the US Marines and served his country as a Radar Tech Sergeant for three and one-half years.
Charles worked with his father and brother at Long Beach Triumph selling motorcycles in the ’60s and 70’s, and was a member of the Hilltoppers Motorcycle Club.
He married Donna Staudinger in 1968. Together they had three children.
Charles and his family later moved to Idaho, Arizona, and lately to Washington, working at various jobs to provide for his family. Charles enjoyed fishing with family and friends until disabilities kept him home where he then developed a love for NASCAR.
Charles is survived by his wife Donna; children Ruth (John) Madewell of Springfield, Mo., Sandi (Bruce) Harrington of Anacortes, and Sarah (John) Ney of Oak Harbor; grandchildren, Alex, Ryan, Matthew, Kelsey, Breijanna, Emalie, Blake, Brennan and Rachel; brother Robert Lee; sister Jackie Westly; two half-sisters, Peggy Baronosky and Linda McWhirter; also, numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and his step-mother Jackie Gardner.
Funeral services will be held at noon Monday July 7, at the Bible Baptist Church in Oak Harbor. A visitation will be held the hour preceding the service.
