Keven LaVern Jamerson

Keven LaVern Jamerson, beloved son, brother, cousin and uncle, was suddenly and sadly taken from us by an unexpected heart attack on the afternoon of April 22, 2007 in Oak Harbor. He will be sorely missed.

Keven was born Sept. 28, 1956 in Spokane. He was a fraternal twin and the youngest of four boys. He grew up in Spokane and attended Rogers High School. He then moved to California and served in the United States Marine Corp.

Keven has been a resident of Oak Harbor for the past 24 years. He took a lot of pride in owning his own company, Century Cleaning, and had many loyal clients over the years. He had a great affection for collecting things, the latest being Kow Korner memorabilia, and was frequently on the hunt for new things to add to his collection.

Keven had a great passion and flair for cooking. He was always looking for a new great recipe, and loved to talk food. For Keven, it was never just the meal itself; it was presentation, presentation, presentation.

He loved to sail his brother’s boat and had many adventures, to the abhorrence of his brother, out on the sound. Although he loved his home here, a part of his heart was left in Hawaii where he visited when he could. It was all made obvious by the tropical flowers added to his plants in his home, his tiki lounge on the porch and his many Hawaiian hats he proudly wore; you could tell he had a great love for the tropics!

Keven could always be counted on for a great smile and a good laugh. He simply was a great guy and the world will be a sadder place without his smile.

His father Harold Jamerson, his brother Larry and his twin brother Keith preceded Keven in death. He is survived by his loving mother, Margaret, who he had a home moved next to his home so he could watch over her, and his brother, Jim Jamerson, a retired teacher from Oak Harbor High School. He is also survived by Jim and Sue’s children, Kari, Jason and his wife Keira, and Jeremy and his wife Chelsea and their new daughter Maddy. Also Jeromy Ladwig, who he thought of as a son because Keven helped raise him and provided a home for him for the past 15 years.

As Keven said in a letter in his will, “Death is only hard on the ones that are still alive, I’m at peace. My death is really not sudden, I have lived a good life and I wouldn’t change a thing. I have had the Best family that anyone could of asked for. I love you all so much.” In his wishes to celebrate his life not mourn his death, it seems appropriate to celebrate where he celebrated on the last Sunday of his life. So may his friends and family join together to celebrate Keven’s life and share their favorite memories of him on Sunday, May 6, at his last haunt, Harbor Light Tavern, 650 SE Pioneer Way, Oak Harbor. The celebration will begin at 3 p.m.
