Genevieve Oella Weiler, 82, 20-year resident of Oak Harbor, died at her home on May 11, 2002, following an extended illness.
Mrs. Weiler was born in Ewing, Neb., on June 28, 1919, to Charles Good and Rosa (Reinke) Good. She attended school in Ewing, where she graduated from high school in 1938. On Oct. 11, 1940, she was married to her high school sweetheart, Warren G. Weiler. They lived most of their lives in California. After his retirement in 1981, they moved to Campo Hacienda, north of Oak Harbor.
Genevieve played in a Dixieland Band for 14 years, and played drums in the Senior Band for three years in Oak Harbor. She was active in community affairs, serving as secretary-treasurer of Campo Hacienda Water Association. She was well known in her community.
She is survived by her three children, Nancy Hoxie and husband Norman of Anacortes, Robert Weiler and wife Lynn of Kingston, and Stanley Weiler and wife Sheila of Cecilia, Ky.; seven grandchildren, Patty Williams and husband Howard of Bellingham, Rob Hoxie and wife Tina of Anacortes, Bobby Weiler and wife Yvonne of Bremerton, Staff Sgt. James Weiler and wife Karen of Fort Lewis, Donnie Weiler of Burlington, and Kyle Weiler and wife Suzy of Sedro-Woolley; 10 great-grandchildren; one brother, Jim Good and wife Marilyn of Ewing, Neb.; also, numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 60 years, Warren G. Weiler on June 29, 2000.
