A service has been held for Gardiner resident Wilbert Earl Rookard, who died Dec. 18, 2006 at the age of 68.

Mr. Rookard was born July 26, 1938 in Elgin, Kan., to Esther and Arnold Rookard. On July 23, 1956 he married Teresa M. Padilla in Espanola, N.M.

Mr. Rookard served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years. He lived in Oak Harbor from 1964 to 1985 when he moved to Sequim. He loved his work, family and cars. He owned and operated Rookard’s Hardware in Sequim. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife Teresa Rookers of Sequim; son Earl Rookard of Sequim; son and daughter-in-law Willie and Christy Rookard of Sequim; daughters and sons-in-law Carmella and Kelly Quinn of Littleton, Colo., and Esther and Matt Baad of Howell, Mich.; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He will be truly missed by all.
