Elvira Lucille Mosbrooker, 92, of Oak Harbor, died Feb. 21, 2003 at Whidbey Island Manor.
Mrs. Mosbrooker was born Oct. 23, 1910, in Donaldson, Minn., to Henry Alfred and Etta Barbara (Weis) Hartwich. She was raised in Minnesota, where she graduated from high school. Elvira attended Moorehead Normal School (later Moorehead State University), where she received her teaching certificate.
She married Alvin Mosbrooker in Mandan, N.D., on April 18, 1935. They lived in Minnesota until 1943, when they moved to Los Angeles. They eventually settled in the San Fernando Valley community of Van Nuys, where she was a resident for 50 years. Elvira moved to Oak Harbor in 2001. Her love of flowers was reflected in the beautiful roses she had grown for many years at her home in Van Nuys.
Elvira is survived by her two sons, Michael Mosbrooker and wife Helen of Oak Harbor and Harold Mosbrooker and wife Lorrie of Grants Pass, Ore.; five grandchildren, Patti Mosbrooker of Chicago, Michael Mosbrooker and wife Lisa of Brookline, Mass, Eric Mosbrooker of Boston, Janet McClymonds of Pinole, Calif., and Julie Mosbrooker of Roseburg, Ore.; also, six great-grandchildren, Jessie, James, Darren, Tiffany, Allysa and Steven. She was preceded in death by her husband Alvin; also by two brothers and a sister.
In keeping with her wishes, no services will be held. Arrangements under direction of Burley Funeral Chapel.
