Borgny “Boogie” Lucille (Ytgard) Heyntsen

Borgny “Boogie” Lucille (Ytgard) Heyntsen, a resident of Burlington, passed away at the age of 81 in her home on June 17, 2007, after a short but courageous battle with leukemia.

She was born to Lars and Christine Ytgard in Portland, Ore., on March 13, 1926.

She graduated from Sedro-Woolley High School with the class of 1943, and was an adopted member of Oak Harbor High School.

On March 28, 1947, she was married to Melvin E. Heyntsen. She was the mother of four children and was a hardworking homemaker and volunteer at her church. She also worked to help run the family farm.

“Boogie” will always be remembered for her kind and giving heart, her love of family and friends, and her commitment and dedication to her church and her Lord. She will be dearly missed.

Borgny is survived by her husband, Mel of 60 years; her four children, Arlene (Jim) Obtinario of Sequim, Ardelle (Rich) Gronquist of Marysville, Alan (Terri) Heyntsen of Sedro-Woolley, and Brian (Kari) Heyntsen of Sandy, Ore.; brothers, Reidar (Millie) Ytgard of Samish Island and Erling Ytgard of Sedro-Woolley; brother-in-law Einar (Doris) Heyntsen of Burlington; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; eight nieces and one nephew.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, June 23, at 11 a.m. at Burlington Cemetery. A reception between services will be at Burlington Lutheran Church. A memorial service will be held at Burlington Lutheran Church at 1 p.m. with a reception following.

There will be no public viewing.
