Patricia Susan Vertrees, 55, a ten-year resident of Oak Harbor, died June 10, 2005 at her home.

Mrs. Vertrees was born in Bellflower, Calif., on Nov. 25, 1949, to Robert Bond and Gladys (Brittain) Bond. She was raised in Santee, Calif., where she graduated from Santana High School. She entered the U.S. Navy, serving two-and-one-half years. Patricia was married to Kenneth Melton Vertrees on August 13, 1968, in Reno, Nev.

Patricia is survived by her husband Kenneth; by her daughter and son-in-law Susan and Thackary Thomas of Coupeville; her son, Timothy Vertrees, in the U.S. Navy stationed in Norfolk, Va.; her granddaughter (her greatest joy), Amanda Laurel Nicole Thomas; her parents, Robert and Gladys Bond of Portland, Ore.; also, one brother, Richard Bond and his wife Smokey of Houston, Texas.

A celebration of Patricia’s Life will be held at her daughter’s home Monday, June 20. Memorials may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, Puget Sound Affiliate, 1900 N.
