Lucille Emily Filan

Lucille Emily Filan died Aug. 16, 2008, at Regency on Whidbey at the age of 93. She was born Sept. 14, 1914, in Ashland, Kansas, to Milo Blair and Rachael A. (Weaver) Workman.

Lucille moved to Denver with her parents as a young girl and then on to Los Angeles. She attended school and graduated from Belmont High School. She married Harold F. Filan in Orange County on Aug. 4, 1931.

Lucille worked for Lockheed Aircraft in Burbank for many years. She then worked for Coast Envelope Company. Being a homemaker was her longest and most rewarding career.

Harold was a very well known and respected press photographer, covering three wars and much of the most glamorous times and people of Hollywood. Lucille was able to attend many of the film premiers and meet many of the elite of the entertainment industry. She enjoyed gardening, crafts, horseback riding, motorcycling, being out-of-doors, square dancing and collecting. Lucille had a passion for researching her families’ genealogy. She spent untold hours collecting information.

Lucille is survived by one son Dennis Filan and his wife Pamela of Oak Harbor. Her husband Harold and two brothers William Weaver Workman and Clarence Reid Workman preceded her in death.

At her request, no formal funeral services will be conducted. Cremation was held with private family inurnment. Arrangements are entrusted to Burley Funeral Chapel, Oak Harbor.
