George A. Doman
George A. Doman, 90, born Jan. 1915 in Philadelphia, Pa., died June 21, 2005 in Coupeville.
George served in the U.S. Navy from 1935 to 1954. He was a Pearl Harbor survivor serving on the battleship USS Oklahoma that fateful day. He retired from the US Navy in 1954 at Oak Harbor Naval Air Station. George was the owner/operator of the Olympic Gun Shop from the late 1950’s through the early 1960’s. He lived for many years at Dugualla Bay, traveled extensively by travel trailer around the USA and Mexico. George enjoyed fishing and rarely missed an opportunity to get on the water. He was employed at the Oak Harbor Post Office as a rural route carrier and clerk.
George lived his final years at Western Village Mobile Estates in Oak Harbor. George is survived by sons Jim and Scott Doman and Grandson Peter Doman.
A “Memory Gathering” for family and friends will be held Wednesday, June 29 from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at Western Village Mobile Estates Community Center, 225 NE Ernst Street.
