Mrs. Elizabeth Morris passed away Feb. 25, 2003, at Martha and Mary’s Health Care Facility in Poulsbo; she was 82.
Mrs. Morris was born Nov. 2, 1920, in Blyn to Nicholas and Mary (Luhtala) Gronka. She married Richard P. Morris in February of 1939 in Olympia.
Mrs. Morris attended high school in Olympia and graduated in 1939. She later attended beauty school in San Diego, Calif., graduating in 1960. She has also attended classes at Skagit Valley Junior College.
Mrs. Morris owned and operated her own beauty shop for over 30 years, until her retirement in 1992. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star of Coupeville and VFW Auxiliary No. 91 of Tacoma. She enjoyed knitting, music, painting and woodcarving. She was also a member of the Seventh Day Adventist church.
Survivors include sons Larry W. Morris of Silverdale and Ron P. Morris of Tacoma; brothers Walter Gronka of Olympia and Roy Gronka of Orting. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Richard P. Morris, preceded her in death in 1998. Her brothers Nick and Richard Gronka, formerly of Olympia, also precede her in death.
A private inurnment service will be held at Grandview Cemetery in Anacortes Saturday, March 8, at 3 p.m. Memorials may be made in memory of Mrs. Morris to the American Cancer Society (PO Box 2383, Bremerton, Washington, 98310). Arrangements are by The Stone Chapel at Cherry Grove in Poulsbo.
