Cornelia Wieberdink

Cornelia “Connie” Wieberdink, 84, died at Whidbey General Hospital, Coupeville, on Dec. 20, 2005. She was born Feb. 19, 1921 in Pipestone, Minn., to Peter and Rica Sankey. She grew up on a farm in Raymond, Minn., and then moved on to Pease, Minn.

Connie was married to Arthur Lyman Wieberdink on August 3, 1941. They farmed in Minnesota until 1961, when they moved to Stanton, Calif. Connie worked for McDonald-Douglas Aircraft Company as an assembler, until her retirement in 1989. Arthur and Connie moved to Oak Harbor in 1994.

Connie had been a member of the Oak Harbor Christian Reformed Church for many years. She was a longtime member of the Christian Reformed Church of Anaheim, Calif. She enjoyed bowling and fishing.

Connie is survived by four sons: Roger Wieberdink of Oak Harbor; David Wieberdink of Tacoma; Norman Wieberdink of Portland, Ore.; and Ronald Wieberdink of Oak Harbor, and by six daughters: Judith Meno of Portland, Ore.; Linda Sellgren of Oak Harbor; Lois Alms of Custer, Wash.; Rachel Fizia of Huntington Beach, Calif.; Phyllis Flores of Cleveland, Tenn., and by JoAnne Larson of Grandville, N.D. Twelve grandchildren and eight great grandchildren also survive. Her husband Arthur, one son Robert Lee Wieberdink and one granddaughter Lisa Larson preceded her in death.

Graveside services for Connie Wieberdink were held Dec. 29 at Fircrest Cemetery, Oak Harbor. Memorial services followed at Sovereign Grace Orthodox Presbyterian Church, Oak Harbor with Pastor Robert Van Kooten officiating. Memorials may be made Sovereign Grace Orthodox Presbyterian Church. Arrangements are entrusted to Burley Funeral Chapel.
