Jean M. Haarsaker was born in Seattle on Jan. 11, 1932 and lost her battle with cancer on Dec. 21, 2009. She will be laid to rest at Floral Hills in Lynnwood.
She moved with her family to Alaska as a young girl and then returned to the Seattle area and attended Roosevelt High School where she graduated in 1949. Jean had a management career with Verizon (General Telephone) until her retirement in 1984, where she made a number of lifetime friendships. Upon retirement, Jean lived for a few years in Yakima and then moved to Coupeville where she spent the rest of her retirement years close to family. In retirement Jean worked as a receptionist for Center Isle Realty in Coupeville. For those who knew Jean, they will miss her quick wit and kindness to all she met.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents Ruth and Lew Buckinger and is survived by her brother Ron Buckinger of Coupeville and her two daughters and their spouses, Kathy (Steve) Brown of Lacey and Sue (Kim) Campbell of Everett; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and her loving cat, Bruce.
