Graveside memorial for Marcia Lee Smith will be held Saturday, Nov. 9 at 1:30 p.m., at Sunnyside Cemetery, Coupeville, with Pastor Larry Bucy of Island Christian Church officiating.
A reception for family and friends will follow at Island Christian Church, Midway Boulevard and Fourth Avenue, Oak Harbor from 2:30 to 4 p.m.
Marcia Lee Smith, 61, passed away Oct. 31, 2002 at her home in Oak Harbor following a lengthy illness. She was born Sept. 5, 1941 in Ainsworth, Neb., to Donald and Golda (Moritz) McIntosh. She grew up in Bassett and Norfolk and then moved with her family to Oceanside, Calif. She returned to Nebraska and was married Aug. 11, 1962 to Donald M. Smith in Norfolk.
Marcia and Don moved to Vashon Island where they raised their family. The Smiths moved to Oak Harbor in 1989. They lived in Japan during a four-year work tour, and then returned to Oak Harbor. She was a member of Island Christian Church of Oak Harbor.
Marcia loved Japanese culture and design. She also loved art, embroidery, sewing, photography, glass bead design and the outdoors.
Most of all, she was a lady of unconditional love, devoted to her family, friends and her faith.
Marcia is survived by her husband of 40 years, Donald, at the family home in Oak Harbor. She is survived by two children and their spouses: Jill C. Heiserman and husband Chad and one grandson Wyatt Heiserman of Oak Harbor; and Scott A. Smith and wife Melanie of Avon, Colo. Two brothers, Lorin Ray McIntosh of Fallbrook, Calif., and LaVerne McIntosh of Bellevue, Neb. also survive her.
