Families worshiping at an Oak Harbor church have been rehearsing in preparation for a celebration honoring the nation’s most famous civil rights leader.

Mission Ministry Outreach, which is located on Goldie Road in Oak Harbor, is honoring Martin Luther King Jr. Sunday with a celebration scheduled to start at 3 p.m.

Pastor Fannie Dean said the theme of Sunday’s celebration is “let us move on,” and it will include lots of singing, dancing, eating, laughing, joy and peace.

Jessica Vester, a 12-year -old middle school student, will read one of King’s sermons titled “Love Your Enemies.”

“We should still treat them as everybody else,” Vester said during a rehearsal Thursday.

More than a dozen people spent their Thursday evening rehearsing and practicing songs and dances in preparation of the celebration.
