As one of Lisa Webb’s graduating children (Letters, Nov. 3). I was appalled by the article she sent to me. Oak Harbor High is a “dropout factory” due to the lack of interest from the administration all the way up to Dr. Schulte.
Just before graduation my senior year, the staff came to me and said my credits through the college would not be enough to graduate. They strongly encouraged me to wait and graduate next year. I worked through three outreach programs in two weeks to graduate on time with no encouragement of the administration.
My younger sister at the mere age of 16 was sat down with my mother and again the administration of OHHS told her she was nothing but a waste of their time and was of age to drop out. After further telling her and my mother she was never going to graduate she walked away from that school. Like my mother said we are all over this country and good citizens. We didn’t let OHHS set us back but moved forward.
My child will never be present in this school district due to the lack of interest of the administration and the high rate of dropouts.
