Ryan’s House for Youth is seeking $50,000 to fund the balance on the purchase of the former Countryside Inn south of Coupeville.
The nonprofit homeless youth advocacy organization, based in Freeland, hopes to purchase the property and convert the space into an expanded drop-in center and transitional living facility for unaccompanied homeless young people. The sale is set to close Wednesday, April 13.
The seller, SaviBank, contributed $75,000 toward the total purchase price of $600,000. Ryan’s House raised $400,000 in donations and received an additional $200,000 in the form of a loan from an anonymous donor. On Tuesday, a donor who pledged $50,000 pulled out, saying he or she could no longer afford to contribute.
