A 24-year-old Oak Harbor man accused of taking a bottle of bubbles from a window sill is facing more than a year in prison if convicted of the charges against him.

Prosecutors charged Tyson Jeans in Island County Superior Court July 26 with second-degree burglary, theft in the third degree, malicious mischief in the third degree and disorderly conduct.

Jeans is accused of going to the Homes for Rent business on Highway 20 in Oak Harbor July 24 and asking for a letter allowing him to be on the property. When an employee refused, Jeans threw paper from the man’s desk, according to a report by Oak Harbor Police Officer Tony Slowik.

Jeans then went outside and shook door handles on the building, apparently trying to get in through a back entrance. In an alleged act of burglary, he reached his hand into a side window of an office that’s off limits to the public and grabbed a bottle of bubbles, Slowik wrote. The employee claimed Jeans threw the bottle of bubbles against the wall of a building, breaking it open.

If convicted of the charges, Jeans could face from a year to a year and four months in prison.
