I finally figured out why my property taxes went up so much. Island County had to raise them to pay for all the litigation and claims against Gregory Banks. I don’t mind paying taxes to support our county, but litigation and claims costs for illegal activity by our elected officials is totally unacceptable to me.

The Island County Prosecutor’s Office has lost it focus because it is preoccupied by the issues and misconduct of their leader Gregory Banks. Island County deserves better from its elected officials. Richard Nixon said that he was no crook. Yet our great nation knew better and Richard Nixon eventually resigned prior to getting impeached.

By the long list of former employees at the prosecutor’s office, I have to wonder how many other lawsuits are in the works. I believe it’s Greg Banks’ call how he wants to run his office. I believe though, that Island County residents have a limit on what we are willing to pay for, especially when it comes down to illegal behavior by our elected officials.

Your call might soon be sounding to you like recall when Island County residents have finally realized that they are the ones that are stuck with the bill.
