Dorothy Neil has been writing news about Whidbey Islanders for more than 50 years.

Lyn and Larry Moses were holiday hosts at a formal party with dinner buffet. The party’s theme was All American Trees with flags and military decorations. The 75 guests chose Christmas gifts from a small tree or a tree with decorations from Poland.

Mary Vanderzicht had all of her children home for Thanksgiving with 25 gathering at Pattii and Michael’s home.

The family enjoyed a traveling year, with Mary and five daughters on a Mediterranean cruise which included shopping for carpets in Turkey. February found Mary in Hawaii. In September, Ann and Terry, Mary Beth and Don accompanied their mother on a Husky cruise in the Caribbean. They had to make new plans to fly home after Sept. 11.

This holiday, Mary Beth and Don will come from Virginia. Cathy still spends her summers in Alaska but as Mary says, “Fortunately for me she is still attached to Oak Harbor.”

News from Mark and Joan Reichman, missionaries recently stationed with New Tribes Missions in Papua, New Guinea, is that they are now in Honolulu, Hawaii. They plan to visit Oak Harbor soon. Their address 2206 L California Ave., Wahiawa, HI 96786.

The Whidbey Pony Club gave a birthday party with a potluck dinner honoring Linda Chatfield Sunday, Dec. 16 in Coupeville. Thirty Pony Clubbers and parents were present. Chatfield is an instructor and teacher for kids who want to learn to ride and jump.

A visit from Ann and Hap Goetz brought our Dutch book for signing as a gift to the Goetz’s son Marc. The Goetzs came to Oak Harbor in 1950 and both were Oak Harbor teachers. Their sons Mark and Jeff are home builders in Seattle.
