Coupeville High School senior Makana Stone was selected as the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association 1A female Player of the Week for Dec. 7-12.

In three games last week, Stone averaged 23 points, 15 rebounds, four steals, two assists and one block per game.

Each week throughout the school year, the WIAA recognizes 12 varsity athletes, a male and a female from each of the six classifications, who exhibited an outstanding performance for the previous week.

In recognition of their accomplishment, each Athlete of the Week winner receives a congratulatory letter from WIAA Executive Director Mike Colbrese, a commemorative WIAA State Athlete of the Week beanie and a certificate. Winners are also posted to the WIAA website at www.wiaa.com

Stone also won the award last season for the week of Jan. 26-31.
