Oak Harbor will have three golfers entered in the Washington Junior Golf Association state tournament July 23 through 25 at Fircrest Country Club in Tacoma.
All three are top competitors with a chance at winning the championship.
Eric McCardle has an automatic entry at state because he qualified for the junior world championships in San Diego, Calif.
The other two golfers, Phil Reedy and Judd Ford, are off to the state tournament due to their finishes at the District 1 championship played July 16 and 17 at Whidbey Golf and Country Club.
Reedy won the 14-to 15-year-old district tournament by shooting a 36-hole total of 72-71 — 143. His score was the low total for any age division in the tournament.
Ford shot a two-day score of 160, good for a fifth-place finish at the district competition in the 14-to 15-year-old division.
Other Oak Harbor golfers competing in the district tournament but failing to qualify were Josh Whitley, who shot a 36-hole score of 159 in the boys 16-to 17-year-old division, and Austin Fields who carded a 214 in the boys 12-to 13-year-old division.
For the girls, Andrea Sutter finished with a 36-hole total of 174. Sutter’s score was good for a fourth-place, but she failed to make the state cut as only two girls in the 16-to 17-year-old division from District 1 advanced.
