Regarding Joan Klope’s August 20 column: Amen to do-it-yourselfers!

I raised three wonderful children. I don’t even consider it a sacrifice to be a stay at home mom. Home is Mom’s office space to prepare for the Big Adventures. When they went off to school I cleaned houses and delivered newspapers. Both jobs afforded me the opportunity to take them with me during summer break. They worked with me, for pay.

Then I was blessed to work at Oak Harbor Middle School during the teen years. Empty nest bit me and now that my three are grown and independent I have a new baby boy to enjoy. The fun of raising your children never has to end. Why would we ever have children just to turn them over to someone else to have all the fun?
