This past June 15, the city-wide clean up day was solely and badly needed by the citizens of Oak Harbor. From this city citizen, I for one thought the whole operation was handled very well.
All of the city employees I came into contact with were exceptionally helpful and cooperative. With the wide variety of stuff brought in, it would almost take a magician to keep some sort of organization for a spot to dispose of things. Yard waste is almost an aphorism for some of the stuff I saw hauled in. But at least some of the stuff won’t be just dumped along a roadside lot, or worse yet in the salt water.
A couple of pieces of galvanized drain down spout has been a bothersome thing for me. I was glad to see a metal collection site. The city as a whole will look a lot better now. Thanks to the staff of the city of Oak Harbor and our mayor.
To those few people that live in the county (outside the city limits of Oak Harbor, whether or not it is just across the street from the city limits), and tried there best and failed to get across to the city yard, I suggest getting to your county commissioners or other county agents and ask for a county clean up day and place.
