For those who support the proliferation of big box stores on Whidbey, please move to Lynnwood, Everett or wherever they like so they can shop to their heart’s delight.

We bought land on Whidbey some 24 years ago to escape the environs of mega shopping malls and the traffic, to enjoy the tranquility of this island. I boycott these stores on Whidbey and will only shop at them when I’m off the island. Local merchants will get my dollars when they can save me some bucks and will be around for a few years to take care of any issues with their product. The local tax base will just have to suffer without my help. Perhaps these actions may help to keep this island small and somewhat rural, outside of Oak Harbor, that is.
