The Coupeville boys soccer team suffered two losses in its first two non-league games, but head coach Melissa Martenak isn’t too concerned.
“We lost…but are very happy with the result because the two pre-season games that we had are against teams who went into the state tournament,†she said. “So as long as we stay healthy and mentally prepared for every game this season, I see great things coming from this team.â€
The Wolves lost their opener, 4-2 last Thursday at Friday Harbor. Although it was officially a league opponent, it counted as a non-league game because the teams’ two league games are scheduled for later this season.
Jaren Tso and Eli Bergeron scored the goals for Coupeville in the loss, while goalkeeper Josh Adams held the Wolverines scoreless in the second half.
The Wolves then dropped a rare Friday night game, 2-0, at home against Overlake.
Coupeville played last night at home against Tacoma Baptist and travel to Shoreline Christian, tomorrow, Sept. 15.
