Aquajets swim fast at Wenatchee invitational

The North Whidbey Aquatic Club Aquajets recently scored 202 points to place eighth of 36 teams at the Apple Capital Invitational in Wenatchee.

The North Whidbey Aquatic Club Aquajets recently scored 202 points to place eighth of 36 teams at the Apple Capital Invitational in Wenatchee. The meet was won by the Bellevue club swim team with 480 points.

Julia Marriott was NWAC’s top point scorer, winning six individual events and taking home the girls 15-and-over high-point award. Fellow 15-and-over Aquajet, Marissa McDaniel, also placed in every event and was second behind Marriott in the girls’ high-point race in that division.

Other NWAC swimmers scoring in multiple events included Lora Burge, who won both the 100 and 200 breaststrokes in the girls 15-and-older division, Aelara Cordary, John Hu, Price Hu, Laura Rosen, Yale Rosen and Aaron Wright.

Notching new qualifying times for this summer’s state championships were Lora Burge (100 and 200 breaststrokes), Aelara Cordary (200 breast), Abby Leete (200 backstroke), Wolfe Styke (200 breast), and Kerianne Wright (100 butterfly).

The North Whidbey Aquatic Club is a competitive swimming program of the North Whidbey Parks and Recreation District. It includes swimmers of all abilities and ages from age 6 through college. Over the summer, tryouts are at the city pool every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday at 4:15 p.m. New swimmers should be able to swim a length of the pool in freestyle and backstroke.
