As a 43-year resident of Oak Harbor, and a fellow Wildcat alumna, I have met few people with the knowledge, leadership, and managerial qualifications that Sue Karahalios possesses that are essential for anyone aspiring to be mayor of the City of Oak Harbor.
Sue Karahalios returned to her hometown to teach junior high school and middle school for her entire 35 year career as an educator. My children, Angela and Ken, learned personal discipline and the importance of doing homework, as students in Sue Karahalios’ biology class. Sue Karahalios and I have been involved together in several local organizations. Sue Karahalios has been a long time member of the Filipino American Association of Oak Harbor, and this past year, we worked side by side on the Planning Committee of the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life of North Whidbey.
Attending city council meeting or viewing them on the local access channel reveals the amount of research that Sue spends prior to meetings. Sue Karahalios’ breadth of knowledge in council proceedings is proven time and time again that Sue does her homework. Sue Karahalios knows the needs of Oak Harbor and has the skills in meeting those needs . . . and most importantly, loves the City of Oak Harbor and will work to preserve its past, work to improve the present, and work to secure the future of Oak Harbor?
