My goodness, another contract being let for a consultant. What a surprise! Even the article by Jessie Stensland, “New $49K plan to lure tourists,” Aug 7, states the number of times consultant efforts have been made to stimulate tourists to Oak Harbor.
There is a city administrator, city development services director, city planner, a city council, and mayor. Perhaps it would be prudent to hire an individual to track consultants, fees paid, and inertia thereafter. In all of these city-paid employees it would be interesting to see their job descriptions to see how many include responsibility for implementing city improvement and tourism.
Perhaps the car dealers could help.
Is this the same Oak Harbor that not too long ago was lamenting about the dire straits it was in for funds?
Is there no one out there who agrees with Priscilla Heistad, director of Oak Harbor Chamber of Commerce when she says, “the city needs action, not another plan.”
