Welcome to Oak Harbor’, really (News-Times, June 15)? It sounds like Vonda Sheiman is another “Johnny come lately” that wants to change what we natives fought to hold dear.

A tree hugger? You bet! And I think we should import some spotted owls also. One would think Vonda has enough to worry about in her personal business, let alone getting into ours. And she’s making the natives restless.

What part of California did Vonda come from before she invaded Friday Harbor? Tourism is fine — just don’t stay! The Northwest is overcrowded now. The idea of rapid transit tell you that. What we need is mule train, and the sons of pioneers.

However, Vonda, I do hope your husband does well, and responds well to treatment.
