“Investigators are unsure if a couple of bullets fired into a North Whidbey home came from a deliberate drive-by shooting or if it was an accident, Island County Sheriff Mike Hawley said.Hawley said the three adult occupants of the Noisy Circle residence were home at around 10 p.m., Oct. 14, when the shots were fired through the front window and lodged into the ceiling.Nobody was injured, he said, but the occupants were rattled. The bullets that detectives pried out of the ceiling came from a .45 caliber handgun.Hawley said detectives have a number of theories about the shooting. Since it was the opening day of hunting season, the bullets could have come from somebody unlawfully hunting in the area. Or, there’s been a problem in the past with people who target practice nearby, so perhaps someone who is a really bad shot was practicing in the area. But Hawley said there’s always the possibility it could have been a drive-by shooting. Since the occupants are new to the area, detectives are also looking into the theory that the shooters could have targeted the wrong address or were after the former residents of the house.Anyone with any information about the shooting can contact the Sheriff’s Office at 678-4422. “
