If the fishing closure areas in question are a danger to divers, consider the fact that those beaches are only used for shore fishing for a short period each year. Also, if it is a poor season, or Washington Dept. of Fish and Wildlife deems the return of salmon numbers to be down, the season is even further shortened.

I did a lot of diving in California and Mexico. The only way the divers could have trouble is if they stay shallow and close to the beach. What about the homeowners in Admirals Cove? Were they taken into account? I saw a lot of them fishing this past season. Probably more than I’d seen before. How is harvesting a migratory species that only comes by for 60-90 days harming the non-target fish? Any fisherman can tell you the techniques don’t mix. Also, there is the question of tribal allowances to the exclusion of all others. We all know that sportfishermen and hunters are in favor of resource management to ensure a viable resource opportunity for the future, but this idea doesn’t make too much sense.
