Oak Harbor police served the third search warrant in two years at a Glencoe Street home that is considered a haven for drug users in an otherwise quiet neighborhood.

Sgt. Tim Sterkel, the department’s drug enforcement officer, said he arrested three adults and a teenaged girl in a Thursday morning drug raid. The 44-year-old woman, 38-year-old man, 22-year-old woman and 16-year-old girl were booked on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine and marijuana.

Sterkel said he worked with informants and angry neighbors to get the search warrant. He said police and neighbors believe the residents were selling the meth and pot, both of which were found on the premises.

“It’s been a concern for quite some time,” he said. “There’s been a constant flow of kids in and out of the house.”

Capt. Rick Wallace with the Oak Harbor Police said “the neighborhood is extremely irate” about the suspicious behavior and alleged drug dealing at the house. They have been vigilant about reporting the activity.

A neighbor, who wished to remain anonymous, said the neighborhood would be a great place to live in it wasn’t for the one house. She said the residents are hostile to approach and they have a mean dog that has gotten loose and terrorized the neighborhood. She blames falling home values in the area on the alleged drug-dealing neighbors.

“There’s always rowdy people coming by here,” she said, adding that it’s been a problem “for a long time now.”

Sterkel said he’s served search warrants at the house, with the same residents, twice before — July 27, 2001 and Nov. 12, 2000.

He said the residents who are allegedly involved in the drug dealing live with their grandmother. She was not implicated in the crimes, he said, because she lives in a separate, drug-free area of the home.
