‘Cats seventh in golf shootout

Girls team wins first WesCo match

The Gallery Golf Course was the site for Wednesday’s seven team Gallery Shootout hosted by the Oak Harbor girls golf team and coach Andy Wesley said the girls played really well.

Up against teams from Snohomish, Monroe, Arlington, Lake Stevens, Stanwood and Marysville-Pilchuck, Oak Harbor carded a score of 497 strokes to finish in sixth place.

Led by medalist Chelsea Adams with a round of 85, Snohomish was the winner with a team score of 366 strokes.

Lake Stevens at 441 was second and Monroe placed third with a score of 452.

Individually, Brittany Loveng shot a great round of golf for the Wildcats.

“Brittany posted a score of 88 to take second overall in the tournament,” Wesley said.

The tournament wasn’t free of problems for Oak Harbor.

“Anndrea Sutter played a great round but unfortunately got dis-

qualified because her opponent from Arlington, Tiffany Daggert, accidentally played her ball,” Wesley said. “They didn’t realize what happened until the next hole and as a result, they were both disqualified.”

Wesley said he was very proud of the way Brittany Rickman, Kay Lee and Shelby Hamming played.

“This was their first time playing 18 holes of golf and they all showed a lot of perseverance and concentration,” he said.

In the first WesCo League match of the season at Gleneagle Golf Course on Thursday, the Wildcats finished first against teams from Marysville-Pilchuck, Lake Stevens, Stanwood and Arlington.

Playing under Stableferd scoring Oak Harbor tallied 85 points , followed by second place Marysville-Pilchuck with 27.

Loveng had another great round scoring 30 points to finish first and was awarded medalist honors. Sutter scored 27 points and Wesley said Rickman shot an “amazing round” to score 15 points. Lee and Hamming rounded out the team score with 7 and 6 points, respectively.
