Tuxedo rental store opens

The only tuxedo rental store on Whidbey Island has opened at 390 NE Midway Blvd., Suite A 102, in Oak Harbor, in the log cabin building.

EventTuxedos, owned by Donna Trontvet, offers formal wear rentals and sales. The business was formally called Event Connections.

Anyone in need of formal evening wear is invited to stop by and take a look at what EventTuxedos has to offer. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. Call 679-8682.

WorkSafe offers safety classes

Skagit Valley College WorkSafe Institute is sponsoring two business workshops in early January.

Thursday, Jan. 3 the workshop will be “DOT Hazardous Materials Training.” The site is the SVC Downtown Center, 204 W. Montgomery, Mount Vernon. Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and cost is $144.

On Saturday, Jan. 5 WorkSafe will present “Workplace First Aid & Adult CPR,” from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Downtown Center. Cost is $50.

What’s the

state of U.S.?

A free, live broadcast at Edward Jones office in Oak Harbor will address the state of the nation, our economy and financial markets.

Featured in the broadcast will be Newsweek columnist George Will along with experts in financial matters. Among subjects addressed will be, “What are the lasting effects of terrorism,” “Time-tested strategies on how to build wealth,” and “Why be bullish.”

Bridal Faire coming to Bow

You might be able to find a bow tie for the beau you plan to marry at the Ultimate Bridal Faire in Bow on Sunday, Jan. 13.

The fair will be held from 1-5 p.m. at the Skagit Valley Casino Resort in Bow, off I-5 north of Mount Vernon. The fair will feature 50 wedding-related vendors. Included will be a bridal fashion show and door prizes. Admission is $5, and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Oasis Teen Shelter. Tickets will be available at the door.
