“Aside from competing and winning at military working dog competitions, the four dogs stationed at Whidbey Island Naval Air Station, and their handlers, have amassed the following accomplishments:* U.S. Secret Service for security for the President, Vice President and Secretary of Defense.* Assisted Coupeville High School/Middle School, Anacortes High School/Middle School, and Mukilteo Ferry during actual bomb threats.* Assisted Island County Sheriff’s Office with suspect/escapee searches.* Assisted military and local civilian law enforcement in contraband searches with positive results in the recovery of narcotics, cash and weapons.* Assisted in the Seattle Sea Fair Festival.* Department of State missions in California and New York.* Worked at United Nations General Assembly.* Assisted Washington State Police in searching for lost hikers.* During a routine inspection, a dog detected .22-caliber rifle ammunition at a distance of 50 feet and in a closed-up vehicle.* Naval Criminal Investigative Service on several occasions for contraband searches.* U.S. Customs Service, conducting contraband interdiction on international flights.* One dog assisted to local civilian authorities on at least 8 occasions for contraband searches in which he detected various contraband and/or paraphernalia.* The same dog found 70 pounds of marijuana for Island County Sheriff’s Department, with an estimated street value of $250,000.* Conduct security sweeps for on-base events, such as the recent homecoming celebration for the VQ-1 aircrew detained in China.* Participate in community events at schools, National Night Out, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, DARE, Tiger Day and the Youth Center. “
