Barbara Bailey held onto her seat in the state House of Representatives by a slim majority over challenger Tim Knue.

The election for 10th District Position 2 was certified Thursday by the Washington Secretary of State, along with all the state offices and ballot issues.

Bailey, an Oak Harbor Republican, beat Democrat Tim Knue by 1,497 votes, with 25,279 for Bailey and 23,982 for Knue.

Bailey’s lead grew slowly but steadily from a scant five votes the morning after the election until her final margin of victory of 51.51 percent.

Knue won in his home area of Skagit County where the results certified Dec. 7 show him with a 103 vote lead, 4,503 to 4,400. But Bailey won in Island County by 826 votes, 15,073 to 14,247, and in in Snohomish County, 6,006 to 5,232.

The 10th District includes all of Island County and small portions of the more populous Skagit and Snohomish counties.

In a written statement, Bailey expressed her “humble gratitude to all who supported returning me for a third term as your state representative.”
